George W. BushEx US President's daughter gives birth to baby girl
Jenna Bush Hager named her daughter Poppy Louise Hager, in honor of
her father and former president George Herbert Walker ‘Poppy’ Bush,
a.k.a. Gampy.
George W. Bush is a grandfather after his daughter, Jenna Bush Hager, welcomed a healthy baby girl on Thursday [August 13]. The good news was announced on Friday’s “Today Show.”
Jenna - who's the
younger of the fraternal twin daughters of the 43rd U.S. President
George W. Bush and former First Lady Laura Bush - named her daughter Poppy Louise Hager, in honor of her father and former president.
Poppy
came in at 7 pounds, 9 ounces, and measured 20.5 inches. And how does
her name connect to her great-grandfather? Well, Bush’s childhood
nickname was “Poppy!”
The little girl is now the second great-grandchild for the former president
and wife Barbara Bush, and, of course, the second grandchild for George
and Laura Bush. Bush Hager and husband Henry Hager are already the
proud parents of Mila, 2.
The Hagers say in a statement, ''We
are thrilled to announce the birth of our darling daughter. Poppy is
named after Jenna’s grandfather, George Herbert Walker ‘Poppy’ Bush,
a.k.a. Gampy. His nickname growing up was Poppy, and we are proud to
name her after a man we so adore. Louise is in honor of our
grandmothers’ middle names, Louise and Lewis. Mom and Poppy are healthy
and well.”
