Buhari Ministerial List Why some Ministers won’t have portfolios

President Muhammadu Buhari has revealed that not all his ministers will have specific portfolios.
The
Nigerian Senate completed the screening and confirmation process for
Buhari’s 36 nominees on Thursday, October 29, 2015, but the president is
yet to swear them in.
Buhari made the revelation,
also on Thursday, in New Delhi, India, while confirming that he would
reduce the number of ministries in the country.
“We cannot work
outside the constitution which says that there must be a cabinet
representative from each state. There used to be 42 ministers. I think
we will be lucky if we can have half of that now because we cannot
afford it,” Buhari said during a press conference after the India-Africa Summit which he attended.
“Others
may not be substantive ministers but they will sit in the cabinet
because that is what the constitution says and we cannot operate outside
the constitution,” he added.
It had earlier been reported that Buhari had plans to cut down the number of ministries in a bid to save cost.
This is based on the recommendation of the All Progressives Congress (APC) transition committee which advised the president to reduce the ministries from 42 to 19.
