President Muhammadu Buhari has said that the world must come together to fight terrorism.
Buhari
made the comment on Monday, March 14, 2016, in reaction to Sunday’s
terrorist attack on the Grand Bassam Resort in Cote D’Ivoire.
The president’s remark were contained in a statement released by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina.
“They
have attacked a hotel in Mali, leaving 21 people dead. They killed over
130 people in attacks on Paris and they murdered 28 persons in Burkina
Faso. Terrorism does not respect territorial boundaries again,” Buhari was quoted as saying.
“That is why the world has to come together, present a common front and deal with these merchants of evil,” the president added.
Buhari is also said to have expressed his sympathies to President Alassane Ouattara of Cote D’Ivoire via telephone.
18 people, four of whom were Europeans, died in the attack which has been claimed by Al Qaeda's North African branch.
