Ex-militants reportedly arrested with arms
The Edo state Police command has arrested three ex-militants leaders around Benin City with arms.
Three ex-militants leaders have been arrested by the Edo state Police command after loaded arms were found on them in Benin City.
According to a
report by Leadership Newspaper, the ex-militants have been detained at
the state criminal investigation department from where the will be
arraigned in Court.
It was further reported that one of the arrested individuals, Peres Ejuni had earlier decamped to People’s Democratic Party and had been tagged a security threat.
This is coming after the Edo state Governor, Adams Oshiomhole had raised issues of security concern and importation of Militants by PDP leaders into the state.
Confirming
the arrest, the Commissioner for Justice and Attorney general of Edo
state, Barrister Henry Idahagbon said Peres Ejuni was arrested with two
Ak47 assault riffles and is currently with the police.
Idahagbon also said the police have remained resolute and ready to arraign him before the court on Wednesday.
Continuing, Idahagbon alleged that PDP candidate, Osagie Ize-iyamu and Chief Gabriel Osawaru Igbinedion tried getting Ejuni released from police custody but failed in their bid.
