Officials of the EFCC are also said to have seized an Abuja asset worth N500 million from Alison-Madueke.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is set to seize properties worth N3 billion from former Petroleum Minister, Diezani Alison-Madueke, reports say.
The properties are said to be located in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, according to The Nation.
Officials
of the EFCC are also said to have seized an asset worth N500 million
and located in Abuja from Alison-Madueke who is being investigated for
money laundering
“Based on latest
intelligence, we have been able to trace more choice assets to Mrs.
Alison-Madueke in Port Harcourt. We have drafted more operatives in
Rivers State,” an EFCC source said.
“We
have identified more than five of such assets but we need to verify the
ownership by going through some documents before attaching the
properties in line with our mandate.
“In
the next one week, our team in Port Harcourt would have completed their
assignment. We will then release the value of the assets. We are also on
the trail of some accomplices who were used for the property deals.
“We
are still working in collaboration with NCA in the UK. I think we are
getting closer to the final leg of the Mrs. Alison-Madueke probe,” the source added.
The
EFCC, in June 2016, seized an Abuja mansion worth $18 million from
Alison-Madueke. The house also contained a bulletproof gym and
furnishing worth $2 million.
According
to the agency, the home was bought with stolen public funds and is part
of the $10 billion worth of property and cash recovered from corrupt
government officials.
