BVN CBN extends registration deadline The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has extended the deadline for Bank Verification Number (BVN) registration till October 31, 2015. The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has extended the deadline for the Bank Verification Number (BVN) registration. The registration exercise will now continue till October 31, 2015, according to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN). The deadline had earlier been set for Tuesday, June 30 leading many customers to besiege banks as the date drew near. Many had earlier urged the CBN to review the deadline but the apex bank's Director of Corporate Communications, Ibrahim Mu’azu reportedly said that no extension would be granted as sufficient time had been given for registration. About 14 million Nigerians are said to have already registered for their BVNs.

Extreme Jealousy 18-yr-old girl burnt to death over boyfriend A young South African girl has been burnt to death by her boyfriend's ex-girlfriend. An 18 year-old South African student, Boitumelo Dlamini, has been burnt to death for allegedly snatching a boyfriend from her rival, reports the Sowetan Live. The body of the teenager was found in a field in Klipgat, North West, and her boyfriend's ex-girlfriend and three of her friends have been arrested for the crime. Dlamini, a Grade 12 pupil at Elepsa Secondary School, strated dating the 24-year-old man Tokelo Makalepho, 24, from her village, six months ago but her dalliance with him was not taken lightly by his ex-girlfriend who felt she had snatched the man from her. Kidnapped former FUTA VC found dead, body decomposed The VC's decomposing body was found in a store in his Ijapo Estate, Akure residence. The former Vice Chancellor of of the Federal University of Technology, Akure ( FUTA), Professor Albert Ilemobade, who was kidnapped last week has been found dead in a store in his own home. Ondo State Police Command confirmed the VC's death. Speaking to NAN, the State Commissioner of Police, Isaac Eke , disclosed that the decomposing body of Ilemobade was found in a store in his Ijapo Estate, Akure residence on the evening of Sunday, June 28. Boko Haram APC denies plan to relocate terrorist prisoners to Anambra The South-East geopolitical zone of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has denied reports that the Federal Government is planning to transfer suspected Boko Haram members to the Ekwulobia Prison in Anambra State. The State Department, in a recent report, compiled a list of the world’s deadliest terrorist groups, with the total fatalities that they caused in 2013 and 2014. The Boko Haram group killed the highest number of people in the period. The Boko Haram group has killed thousands and displaced millions of Nigerians as a result of its activities in the North-Eastern part of the country. The report said the Boko Haram group caused about 8,239 deaths in the period; the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant in Iraq killed about 8,038 people. Naira falls to 225 against dollar The naira tumbled against the dollar from 222 on Wednesday to 225 on Thursday, barely 36 hours after the Central Bank of Nigeria banned importers of rice, textiles, tomato paste and 38 other items from getting their forex needs from the nation’s forex market. The regulator had said the new rule would help preserve the external reserves, facilitate the resuscitation of domestic industries and generate employment opportunities. But the ban, which economists said would see about $5.7bn quarterly forex demand by importers of the items move from the official to the parallel market, is already fuelling scarcity of dollar at the black market and the Bureau De Change segment of the forex market. That was the first time a Jumat service will be held in the premises. All former Muslim Presidents and Vice Presidents have been taking part in the services at the National Mosque, Abuja. He took pictures of the police officers trying to negotiate a bribe from a commercial motorist. Out of the seizure, Cannabis Sativa accounted for 231.91 kg while psychotropic substances weighed 449.357 kg," Kibo said.    The Adamawa Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency ( NDLEA ) said on Thursday that it seized illicit drugs weighing 681.267kg from January to June 20, 2015.
